A 3D printed gift feels personal because you made it. You can pick the color, size and finish, and add a small detail that store-bought gifts do not have. This guide sorts gift ideas by who you are giving to, with tips to finish them well.
Quick answer: Good 3D printed gifts include fidget toys and puzzles for kids, dice and painted miniatures for tabletop fans, planters and vases for home lovers, desk organizers for office workers and cat figures for cat lovers. Buy the STL file, print it in a color the person likes and add a clean finish.
Earlier than you think. A gift list of six items can add up to 30–60 hours of printing once you count test prints, failed prints and painting. Start two to three weeks before the holiday or birthday.
Kids enjoy things they can touch and play with. Spinners, fidget gears, puzzles and trick boxes are simple to print and fun to use. See more in our toys and games STL files.
Print toys in PETG or PLA with at least three walls so they survive drops. Sand any sharp edges. Small parts can be a choking hazard, so keep tiny pieces away from children under three and supervise younger kids.
A custom die or a painted miniature is a gift a tabletop player will use at every session. Dragons, beasts and creatures make great display pieces too. Browse our miniature and figure STL files, and read our guide to STL files for tabletop miniatures for printing tips.
Resin printers give the sharpest detail on small figures. On an FDM printer, use a 0.4 mm or smaller nozzle and a layer height of 0.08–0.12 mm, and use tree supports to protect thin parts like wings and claws.
Planters, vases, music boxes and flower boxes look good on a shelf and suit almost anyone. Our home decor STL files include vases, planters, lampshades and candle holders.
Many vases are designed for vase mode, which prints one continuous wall with no top layer. It is fast and gives a smooth surface. Silk or marble PLA adds a nice finish with no painting. A printed vase is not always watertight, so put a glass or plastic insert inside for fresh flowers.
Ornaments, tree stars and small holiday houses are classic printed gifts. They also work as gift toppers or stocking fillers. Find more in our Christmas and holiday STL files.
Ornaments print best flat or slightly angled, with a small loop for a ribbon. Gold, silver and red silk filaments look festive without paint. For a light-up house, print in white or translucent filament and place a battery LED inside. Never use a real candle.
People who spend all day at a desk appreciate things that make it tidier. Pencil holders, revolving caddies and paper clamps are practical and still look like a thoughtful gift. Our desk and office category has many more small organizers to choose from.
Desk gifts are a good way to show off a two-color or multicolor print. Even on a single-extruder printer, you can pause at a set layer and swap filament to get a clean color band.
Cat figures make easy, cheerful gifts for anyone who loves their pet. Pair one with a cat paw stamp or a keychain for a small themed set. See all our cat STL files.
For a figure that looks like the person’s own cat, print in a matching filament color or paint the markings by hand. Small figures print well at 0.12 mm layers with supports under the chin and tail.
Yes. Keychains and pendants print in under an hour, cost very little filament and fit in a card or stocking. Browse our jewelry and keychain STL files. Use PETG for keychains, because PLA can crack after months in a pocket.
Multicolor prints look impressive and save painting time. If your printer has a multi-material system, models split into separate color parts print in one go. Without one, you still have options.
Whatever method you choose, match the colors to the person. A gift in their favorite color feels more personal than a perfect print in plain gray.

Our files are for personal use. Printing gifts for friends and family is fine. If you want to sell prints, contact us first. See our FAQ for details.
PLA is the easiest and comes in many colors, including silk and marble finishes. Use PETG for gifts that will be handled a lot, such as toys and keychains.
Start two to three weeks before Christmas. That leaves time for long prints, reprints and painting, and avoids a last-minute rush on your printer.
